Who can use Launch codes
One of the biggest advantages of Launch codes is the flexibility companies have when deciding who can use them.
Instead of manually creating individual codes for every employee, Launch allows admins to control eligibility at the organizational level through employee segmentation, email domain matching and active employee management.
This makes Launch codes scalable for both small teams and large employee merchandise programs.
Launch code eligibility options
When creating a Launch code, admins choose one eligibility method to determine who can use the code at checkout.
Launch currently supports three eligibility options:
- Company email domain matching
- All active employees
- Tagged employees
Each method is designed for different types of employee programs.
Company email domain matching
Company email domain matching is the simplest way to make a Launch code available across an organization.
With this method, employees using the company’s approved work email domain can automatically apply the Launch code at checkout.
For example:
company.comleadapparel.com
Launch currently supports one approved email domain per Launch code to help maintain cleaner employee eligibility management and avoid conflicts across multiple organizations or domains.
This option works well for:
- Company-wide merchandise launches
- Holiday gifting
- General employee ordering programs
- Smaller organizations with simple eligibility requirements
Although the system can automatically recognize approved work email domains during checkout, Launch still recommends maintaining an active employee list inside the dashboard for better reporting and employee management.
All active employees
Admins can also assign a Launch code to all active employees managed inside the Launch dashboard.
This option gives companies more visibility and control over who receives access to employee merchandise programs.
Employees marked as active can:
- Receive Launch Messenger welcome emails
- Access the company store
- Use eligible Launch codes
Employees marked as inactive:
- Do not receive welcome emails
- Do not receive ordering access
- Cannot participate in the employee merchandise program
This setup is commonly used for:
- Ongoing employee merchandise programs
- Employee onboarding
- Internal company stores
- Structured employee gifting programs
Tagged employees
Tagged employees provide the most flexibility and control when managing Launch codes.
Admins can create custom employee tags directly inside the Launch dashboard and assign employees to one or multiple groups.
Common employee tags include:
- Marketing
- Sales
- Leadership
- New hires
- Remote employees
- Office locations
- Event attendees
Launch codes can then be restricted so only employees assigned to a selected tag group are eligible to use the code.
This allows companies to create more targeted employee merchandise programs with different funding amounts, budgets or ordering access for different employee groups.
For example:
- Leadership teams may receive a larger employee allowance
- New hires may receive onboarding-specific merchandise
- Sales teams may receive event apparel
- Conference attendees may receive a limited-time ordering code
Because employees can have multiple tags assigned simultaneously, companies can manage highly flexible merchandise programs without creating unnecessary administrative complexity.
How employee eligibility works
Launch codes are one-time use per eligible employee.
If an employee is eligible for the code, they can apply it once during checkout.
If an employee is active in the employee list but was not assigned a Launch code:
- They can still access the store
- They can place orders using a credit card or PayPal
- They may still receive a welcome email depending on the Launch Messenger settings
This gives companies flexibility to combine employee-funded ordering with company-funded merchandise programs inside the same store.
Why employee segmentation matters
Employee segmentation helps companies organize merchandise programs more strategically.
Instead of issuing the same allowance to every employee, companies can create different merchandise experiences for different employee groups.
This is commonly used for:
- Department budgets
- Employee perks
- Sales incentives
- Employee anniversaries
- Event programs
- Recognition rewards
- Onboarding programs
As employee merchandise programs grow, employee segmentation becomes increasingly important for budgeting, reporting and long-term program management.

- Maintain an accurate active employee list
- Use company email matching for simple company-wide launches
- Create clear tag names that are easy to manage internally
