Mother's Day is just six days away. Do you already have something planned out for your dear ol' mom? You could go with flowers and chocolates, but that's so cliché. Why not think outside of the box and come up with a Mother's Day gift that's truly original?

Custom clothing is a great way to show how much you appreciate your mother for Mother's Day. If your mom is anything like my mom, then she's a sucker for sentimental messages and signs of appreciation. All I have to do is tell her something sincere and heart-felt and before long she's reduced to a blubbering mess of happy tears. If that's exactly the type of reaction that you're going for, then allow me to share with you some of the best ways to wear your heart on your sleeve this Mother's Day.

Add a Personal Touch

Whatever gift you end up giving your mother, make sure that it comes from the heart. Your gift will be so much more meaningful if you personalize it in some unique way. Add the names of your mother's children, add a graphic that represents your mother's love, or have all of the kids paint handprints on the t-shirt. It will show your mom that the gift is from you and not some graphic artist.   Little Girl in I Love Mom Shirt Image source: Thesammoproject.com[/caption]

I Love Mom!

One of the most effective ways to show your appreciation for your mother is to do so publicly. It tells the world, "This my mom, I love her, and I'm not ashamed of it!" It also allows your mom to show off to her friends. There's a good reason why people send flowers to girls while they're at work -- it gives the recipient an opportunity to be the envy of the office.

A screen printed t-shirt that proudly proclaims, "I love you, Mom!" does the same thing in a much more unique way. This is especially true for younger kids and infants. Nothing will make Mom blush more than her little bundles of joy running around in "I [heart] Mom" t-shirts.

Respect the Family Tree

Mother's day is also Grandmother's Day, so it's important that you show your appreciation to each and every mother in your family. Custom clothing is the perfect way to bring together the different generations in your family. My recommendation is to use the same pattern but use a different shade for each generation. For example, you could give grandma a shirt that's dark pink, give your mom a shirt that's a medium shade of pink, and have the youngest girl in the family could wear a shirt that's light pink. The similarities show that you're all part of the same family but the color differences highlight the generational gap -- separated by decades but united by love and family.   Grandchildren with Grandmother Image source: Gizmodo.com
